A Starter's Guide

So, you want to have something upholstered, but don't know where to begin? Don't worry, let us walk you through the process. First, we need to figure out what category your piece falls under. This should be relatively simple to determine:  Does it belong in your home, office, restaurant, car or boat/recreational vehicle? Now, if you have answered restaurant, car, or boats & watercrafts you may skip to fabric choices.

If you answered home or office, the next set of questions will help specify what kind of furniture you have. Think of it as going from the common terminology to the scientific identification. Is it: meant to be used indoors or outdoors?  An antique (vintage) or a modern piece? Very well, here is where things can get a little challenging. But, no need to panic, we have included a set of charts/diagrams that should guide you to the exact name of your piece. And as an added bonus, they also give an idea how much fabric would be needed to restore each piece.

Fabric Choices

Now, there are many options for fabric, but let's break it down based on the different categories. For instance, boats & watercrafts use a special type called marine vinyl which is flexible and waterproof. For outdoor furniture, there is a kind of canvas fabric which is weatherproof and has reflective UV protection.  For automobiles, there are different kinds of leather as well as heat-resistant vinyl. And finally, for indoor furniture you can choose from microfiber, damask, microsuede, and various cotton or polyester blends based on your individual needs & design. We have a variety of catalogs with an array of color choices available. The next section is an additional service we offer for wood furniture. If not needed, you may skip to the determining condition section.

Wood Restoration

This kind of refurbishing is done to antique pieces of furniture. It involves painting new varnish on the wood as well as reinforcing or amending any broken legs/arms. In some special cases, the restoring of traditional Spanish rocking chairs involves woven wicker details that may have worn away or detached throughout the years. This entire process is more time-consuming and can be quite challenging, but incredibly rewarding if you are considering fixing a piece with much personal sentiment.

Determining Condition

You have made it to the final step which is determining the condition of your piece. This will help answer questions like: Is it something that just needs a new fabric? Or will it need the foam/cushioning replaced and springs repaired? Now, because every piece is completely different, we will need you to take some photos so that we can visualize and survey what needs to be done. Please take pictures of your piece in the following positions/angles: front, back, and lateral. Once you have submitted your contact information for the quote below, we will reply via email and you can send the photos as an attachment. If inquiring about an automobile, please include the brand and year of your specific model.
